3 Iran shorts to go to US

A Lineup of 3 Iran short films has been picked to screen at the 2019 Women’s Visionary Film Symposium (COSM) in the US.

The list of selected titles includes ‘Repercussion’ by Negin Homayounpour, Zahra Rostampour’s ‘Starvation’ and ‘Double’ directed by Ronak Jafari.

Homayounpour’s short narrates the story of a family that is watching a war movie. As they are watching the film, they find themselves involved in the same situation as well.

‘Repercussion’ has so far attended a number of international film events; and has won awards such as Best Short Fiction from the first Melbourne City Independent Film Awards in Australia.

The plot summery for the 7-minute short animated film ‘Starvation’ reads as, “A hungry wolf gets stuck in stereotypes about being the big bad wolf of the story. It has to flee when everybody accuses it of violence and murder. It faces the danger of getting killed.”

Rostampour’s film will soon attend the 2019 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France too.

And the third title on the list is ‘Double’ which narrates the story of a woman whose dream of becoming a cinema star drives her into accepting a job as a stunt double, an experience which is not so successful.

The Women’s Visionary Film Symposium aims at building a relaxed atmosphere for visionary art to inspire a global community. COSM is home for a mixture of artistic and spiritual.

The latest edition of the film event is slated for May 30 to June 02, 2019 in NY.
